FORD Mustang GT 350 Shelby Tribute
Ford Mustang Fastback 302 ci Tremec — Shelby GT350 Evocation
Motors Corner is pleased to present this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback, prepared as a Shelby GT350 evocation. Rolling off the Ford assembly line in 1966, it has been transformed in the spirit of Carroll Shelby’s GT350s, adopting their signature aesthetic: a red exterior with white stripes, Shelby wheels with Cobra center caps, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a roll bar, and side-exit exhausts.
While not a factory-built GT350—and making no claim to be—it is a serious, well-executed build designed for the road. It features a rebuilt engine, a five-speed Tremec transmission, power steering, and an upgraded suspension and running gear. Its track record confirms its capability, having participated in the Le Mans Classic twice, in 2018 and 2022. The glove box bears the signature of Carroll Shelby, and the dashboard features a 1992 Shelby American Automobile Club plaque.
Mechanicals:
The V8 engine has been bored out to 302 cubic inches and fully prepared—both top and bottom end—using Cobra Performance components, including an intake manifold, camshaft, high-capacity oil pan, a four-barrel carburetor, and side-exit exhausts with an H-pipe. The engine runs perfectly and delivers its full power. The original transmission has been replaced with a five-speed Tremec, which significantly enhances the driving experience and makes long-distance journeys much more comfortable. The car is equipped with power steering, front disc brakes, and Koni Sport shock absorbers, ensuring stable handling that is well-matched to the available power.
Interior:
The black interior is in good condition. The front seats are sporty semi-bucket seats in excellent shape, while the rear bench seat remains true to the original configuration. The dashboard, carpeting, and headliner are well-preserved, and the Shelby wood-rimmed steering wheel is in excellent condition. The air conditioning is functional and has been modernized. The car is equipped with a roll cage, making it well-suited for rallies and historic racing events.
Exterior:
The bodywork is in very good overall condition, with no signs of impact, flawless paint, and chrome trim in perfect condition. The white stripes are painted on, not applied as decals. The Shelby wheels and tires are in very good condition.
