Motors Corner is pleased to present this 1966 Morgan Plus 4 Competition (chassis 6255), ordered new by Philippe Cousteau—son of Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau—and delivered to Paris on May 23, 1966. The Plus 4 Competition is the rarest variant in the lineup, with only forty-two units ordered between 1965 and 1967; it is believed that just eleven survive today. Distinguished by its "low-line" bodywork—featuring tauter, sportier styling—it sits halfway between the standard Plus 4 and a dedicated race car.
This example retains its factory configuration of Kingfisher Blue paint over black leather and is fully matching-numbers. It comes with a comprehensive documentation file, including the Morgan Motor Company Chassis Record, factory specification confirmation, correspondence from Morgan France, and period photographs. It holds a French "collection" registration document.

Mechanicals:
The car retains its original Triumph TR4A engine, complete with original SU carburetors and a Derrington tubular exhaust system. It is equipped with the Armstrong Selectaride shock absorbers, disc brakes, and 7HA rear axle specific to the Competition model.
In July 2025, the car underwent a complete mechanical overhaul at LDO Racing, costing nearly €14,600 in total. The work included, notably, an engine oil change with oil filter replacement; gearbox and rear axle oil changes; replacement of the fuel pump and fuel filter; installation of custom intake trumpets; replacement of the rocker cover gasket, accessory belt, and starter motor; a complete ignition system overhaul (Lucas Sport coil, distributor cap, points, condenser, wiring leads, and spark plugs); removal and refitting of the carburetor with a repair kit, along with engine tuning and carburetor/ignition adjustment; replacement of the brake master cylinder, including bleeding and line refurbishment; installation of the gear lever; and repair of the accelerator pedal. Five new Dunlop Racing 500L15 CR65 tires were fitted.
In October 2025, a second round of work was carried out within the Morgan dealer network—costing nearly €5,700—which included a complete overhaul of the steering box (replacing internal components, the drop arm, and the worm gear); replacement of the steering tie rods followed by wheel alignment; refurbishment of the rear suspension assembly; resealing of the engine sump and rear axle housing (including a differential oil change); and battery replacement. The car has thus undergone over €20,000 worth of work in recent months and is ready to hit the road.

Interior:
The cabin is trimmed in black leather, featuring the original "Competition"-specification bucket seats, the signature varnished wood dashboard, and a complete set of original Smiths instruments. The three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel, the kilometer-based odometer, and the electrical equipment all conform to "Competition" specifications. The car is also equipped with the original heater.
It features a custom-made Mohair tonneau cover, which is in good condition, as is the hood frame supplied with the car.
Exterior:
Presented in its original Kingfisher Blue color, the "low-line" bodywork is in excellent condition, featuring deep, glossy paint. It retains its European-specification headlights, front and rear bumpers, and a spare wheel mounted on the rear trunk lid.
The car comes with its accessories: a chrome rear luggage rack, hood frame, tonneau cover, and side screens.
